In this teaching unit, students explore the spectrum of gender and sexuality, delving into the historical struggles and triumphs of the LGBTQ community, while gaining insight into the lives of prominent LGBT figures and examining contemporary issues affecting LGBTQ individuals.
This introductory unit is a necessary addition to our year long Ethnic Studies curriculum. This unit aims to shed light on LGBTQ+ History.
In line with our guiding principle of Solidarity, this unit centers around the essential question: “How have LGBTQ+ people been systematically oppressed?”
